Metered Dose Aerosol Inhalers (MDI)

If necessary, attach the plastic holding chamber to the aluminium pressure container.

Please sit upright.

Then remove the cap from the MDI. Now hold the inhaler between your thumb and middle finger and shake it vigorously at least five times.

Please breathe out slowly and tilt you head back slightly. Then put the mouthpiece into your mouth and enclose your lips tightly around it. Now inhale slowly and deeply through your mouth, simultaneously pressing tightly on the canister with the drug suspension.

After inhaling, please hold your breath for 5 to 10 seconds. Then you can breathe out slowly, but not into the mouthpiece. Please hold the MDI upright for half a minute before a possible second inhalation. Please replace the cap at the end of the inhalation. Some MDIs have a counting mechanism indicating the number of puffs that are still available.

If you have to inhale corticosteroids, please rinse your mouth after use and eat something to prevent oral yeast infections.

Variations could be possible for individual drugs.

Please read the package information leaflet carefully before use.

If you are not certain whether you are using your inhaler correctly, ask your doctor or pharmacist

Metered Dose Aerosol Inhaler with Counting Mechanism and “RAG” Function

Remove the cap from the mouthpiece, and ensure that the mouthpiece is clean and dust-free. The inhaler must be shaken at least five times each time directly before a puff is released.

Hold the inhaler upright with your thumb under the bottom of the mouthpiece and your forefinger on the pressure container.

Please sit upright. Breathe out slowly and deeply and tilt you head back slightly. Then put the mouthpiece into your mouth and enclose your lips tightly around it. Now inhale slowly and deeply through your mouth, simultaneously pressing tightly on the drug canister.

After inhaling, please hold your breath for 5 to 10 seconds. Thereafter you can breathe out slowly, but not into the inhaler. Please hold the inhaler upright for half a minute and then shake it again before a possible second inhalation.

Put the cap back on the mouthpiece to protect it from dust and dirt. Please wash your mouth after use and eat something. This prevents sores in your mouth and throat as well as hoarseness.

This MDI have a “RAG” counting mechanism indicating the number of puffs that are still available. For clarity, the figures are presented in colour. The colour-code changes continuously, from initially green, to completely amber as of 40 and entirely red as of 15 remaining puffs.

Prior to the first use or before an inhalation after a longer period of disuse of more than 3 days, you should control whether the pressure container is correctly inserted in the inhaler, the cap of the mouthpiece is removable and shake the MDI vigorously to ensure proper function. Furthermore, the MDI should be held with your arm stretched out and sprayed into the air 4 times away from the body to observe whether a fine mist is released in the process. If a fine mist is released, the inhaler is ready for operation.

After inhalation, clean the interior of the mouthpiece and the plastic covering with a dry cloth at least once a week. Leave the compressed gas container in the inhaler and do not place the MDI in water.

Please read the package information leaflet carefully before use. If you are not certain whether you are using your inhaler correctly, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
